37-Year-Old Charged In Man’s Shooting Death In Capital Region

A suspect is behind bars days after a 39-year-old man from the region was found shot to death in broad daylight.

Kerdel Young, of Albany, was arrested for second-degree murder Tuesday, Feb. 14, in connection to the death of 39-year-old Anthony Dias, according to Albany Police.

Officers were called at around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, with reports of shots fired in the West Hill neighborhood, near Sherman and Quail streets. 

When they arrived, they found Dias, of Watervliet, lying outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

According to detectives, Young shot Dias multiple times during an ongoing dispute. Nobody else was injured in the attack.

Young was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Tuesday and was ordered held at the Albany County jail.
